Dal Bhat Set

The typical Nepali dish is actually a meal which consists of dal (lentil beans in a soup-like texture), a curried vegetable, lots of rice and maybe some bread. Along the trail it is served at every single place. It is what all the guides and trekking assistants eat and comes in an “all you can eat” fashion. Although I like lentils, I just could not eat Dal Bhat for every meal. Of course that doesn’t mean we had much variety. Almost as soon as the trek began our diet became very simple and very high in carbs. Hard boiled eggs for breakfast, soup or fried rice for lunch and maybe a simple vegetable curry or rice dish for dinner. We tried a few different things here and there, but pizza for example, just tastes like chapati bread with red curry tomato sauce and greasy yak cheese.
